"Healing is about taking the time to notice what gets in the way of feeling connected to your life, your community, and your sense of possibility. Healing, at its core, is about slowing down so that we can better listen, to ourselves and each other." -Susan Raffo
MY PRACTICE
Hello and Welcome! My name is Mary Okoth (she/her) and I'm a social worker, artist, and aspiring community herbalist. I am only providing Telehealth sessions, which means you can receive quality therapeutic services from the comfort of your home!
As a trauma-informed psychotherapist, I use a holistic lens, looking at the whole person within the unique context of their history and environment. My approach to healing is collaborative, person-centered, and strengths-based. I am committed to providing care that is anti-racist, culturally respectful, and LGBTQIA+ affirming.
I received a Master of Social Work degree from Tulane University in 2018, with a certificate in Disaster Mental Health and Trauma Studies. My practice is informed by the incredible clients and colleagues with whom I have had the privilege to collaborate across different clinical and community-based settings over the years.
TREATMENT FOCUS
I support adult and teen individuals who are adjusting to changes in their life and experiencing related stress, anxiety, depression, grief, identity issues, and relational or behavioral challenges. I specialize in evidenced based practices of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and am Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy trained.
I have extensive experience in supporting the healing process for people who help others -- from first responders to educators to fellow psychotherapists. I support helping professionals as they encounter caregiving-related conditions such as burnout, compassion fatigue, and/or secondary trauma.
MY PROMISE
I believe that our lifeline healing journeys have a ripple effect across communities and generations. I promise to meet you exactly where you are along your journey, honoring you as the expert of your own experience. I promise to help you develop coping skills and strategies for navigating the uncertainties and complexities of your journey. It is of the upmost importance to me to be patient, to be present, and to deeply listen to you.
